Purpose\r\n\r\nA primary goal of a Kim Crayton LLC event, is to be inclusive to the largest number of participants, with the most varied and diverse backgrounds possible. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and religion (or lack thereof).\r\n\r\n- Tech is Not Neutral\r\n- Intention without Strategy is Chaos\r\n- Lack of Inclusion is a Risk Management Issue\r\n- Prioritize the Most Vulnerable\r\n\r\nKim Crayton LLC prioritizes marginalized people’s safety over privileged people’s comfort. Our Leadership Team reserves the right not to act on complaints regarding:\r\n\r\n- ‘Reverse’ -isms, including ‘reverse racism,’ ‘reverse sexism,’ and ‘cisphobia’\r\n- Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as “leave me alone,” “go away,” or “I’m not discussing this with you.”\r\n\r\nThis Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all those who participate in our events, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.\r\n\r\nWe invite all those who participate in Kim Crayton LLC events to help us create safe and positive experiences for everyone.\r\n\r\n# 2. Encouraging and Recognizing Participation\r\n\r\nA supplemental goal of this Code of Conduct is to increase meaningful collaboration by encouraging participants to recognize and strengthen the relationships between our actions and their effects on our event community.\r\n\r\nIntentional, positive, strategic action is essential to avoid replicating within our event community the many forms of inequity that exist in greater society. For this reason, we outline in this Code of Conduct expected behavior as well as prohibited behavior.\r\n\r\nIf you see someone who is making an extra effort to ensure our event community is welcoming, friendly, and encourages all participants to contribute to the fullest extent, recognize them for their good work either personally or by letting event organizers know.\r\n\r\n# 3. Expected Behavior\r\n\r\nThe following behaviors are expected and requested of all event community members:\r\n\r\n- Participate in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you contribute to the health and longevity of this event and the community.\r\n- Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions. his does NOT include tone policing the voices of the marginalized and most vulnerable.\r\n- Attempt collaboration before conflict.\r\n- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.\r\n- Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert event and community organizers if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct, even if they seem inconsequential.\r\n- Remember that event venues may be shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these locations.\r\n\r\n# 4. Unacceptable Behavior\r\n\r\nHarassing Defined:\r\n- to annoy persistently\r\n- to create an unpleasant or hostile situation for especially by uninvited and unwelcome verbal or physical conduct\r\n\r\nThe following behaviors are considered harassment and are unacceptable within our conference community:\r\n\r\n- Violence and threats of violence.\r\n- Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm.\r\n- Derogatory comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or socio-economic status.\r\n- Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behavior in spaces where they’re not appropriate.\r\n- Posting or threatening to post other people’s personally identifying information (“doxing”).\r\n- Deliberate misgendering or use of “dead” or rejected names.\r\n- Inappropriate photography or recording.\r\n- Physical contact or simulated physical contact (e.g. textual messages like “hug” or “backrub”) without affirmative consent.\r\n- Unwelcomed sexual attention. This includes, sexualized comments or jokes; inappropriate touching, groping, and unwelcomed sexual advances.\r\n- Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following (online or in person).\r\n- Sustained disruption of community events, including talks and presentations.\r\n- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.\r\n\r\n# 5. Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior\r\n\r\nUnacceptable behavior from any event community member, including sponsors and those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated.\r\n\r\nAnyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.\r\n\r\nIf an event community member engages in unacceptable behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including a temporary ban or permanent expulsion from the event community without warning (and without refund in the case of a paid event).\r\n\r\n# 6. Reporting Guidelines\r\n\r\nIf you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify the conference conduct team as soon as possible by emailing CoC@kimcrayton.com.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, event organizers are available to help event community members engage with local law enforcement or to otherwise help those experiencing unacceptable behavior feel safe. In the context of in-person events, organizers will also provide escorts as desired by the person experiencing distress.\r\n\r\n# 7. Addressing Grievances\r\n\r\nIf you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you should notify the event conduct team by email at CoC@kimcrayton.com with a concise description of your grievance. Your grievance will be handled in accordance with our existing governing policies.\r\n\r\n# 8. Scope\r\n\r\nWe expect all event community participants (contributors, paid or otherwise; sponsors; and other guests) to abide by this Code of Conduct in all conference community venues – online and in-person – as well as in all one-on-one communications pertaining to event community business.\r\n\r\nThis Code of Conduct and its related procedures also applies to unacceptable behavior occurring outside the scope of event community activities when such behavior has the potential to adversely affect the safety and well-being of event community members.","default_code_of_conduct":false,"public_homepage":{"id":14699,"slug":"home-625345db-a435-4cf7-8619-f3aaa20a2b65"}}
