Design: “Introductions”
August 2nd, 7pm, Genuine Joe Coffeehouse
Does your business card use words like “user experience,” “interaction,” “information,” or anything art-related? Do you wish it did? Do you have to work with people with those words in their titles? Do you wish you didn’t? You should come out for a design practice workshop on August 2nd, from 7–9pm at Genuine Joe Coffeehouse (it’s on Anderson Lane up the road from the Alamo Drafthouse Village).
We all got into UX and interaction design in different ways and for different reasons. What was yours? By request, this week we’ll be talking about the basic definitions, techniques and deliverables of interaction design in the context of our first and current projects. Now that you’re a working designer, what books, papers, tools and techniques have you found to be indispensable? Bring them and introduce us to them!
Come a little early to get settled and get some coffee or a snack so we can start on time. When you arrive, tell the barista you’re with the design workshop. We’ll be in the large, private room (“The Cellar”) to the right of the counter. I’ll be there early to set up if you’d like to introduce yourself or discuss the meeting itself. Paper, markers and other materials will be provided.
RSVP and stay up to date by joining the Facebook group or subscribe to this ICS feed in your calendaring app. Questions? Not in Austin, TX? My name is Vitorio.
